[toggle_content title=”Information On Abu Dhabi”]

The city of Abu Dhabi is of course the capital of the United Arab Emirates and you will find it situated on an island that goes out into the Persian Gulf on the western side. The city itself has a population of approximately 600,000 making it the second largest city in the UAE, but what about its climate, the culture, and the lifestyle of the people that live in this part of the world?

Climate In Abu Dhabi
The climate here is classed as being sub-tropical and arid and it gets sunshine every month of the year, rather pleasant winter temperatures, and very little rainfall to speak of throughout the year. If there is any rain, then it tends to fall only in the winter, but even with this you will be lucky to see more than 12cm of rain over the course of twelve months. For the average temperatures, then between November and April, therefore winter and into spring, you will have an average daytime temperature of 24C in daytime and an average of 13C at night, but during the summer you can expect temperatures to reach a high of 42C in the middle of the afternoon.

Abu Dhabi Culture

For the culture, then obviously it is a Muslim country and follows Islamic beliefs, but it is not as strict as other cities or countries in the area. This does mean that people are able to follow their own religion without fear of persecution, women can drive, and the dress code can be described as being liberal. As a visitor to the country you will be able to purchase and consume alcohol, but even though the restrictions are rather limited you do still need to be respectful and drink sensibly and only in bars or areas where it will not cause offence to others.

The locals also adhere to Islamic traditions that really promote hospitality and you will certainly be given a warm welcome by everybody and courtesy is certainly something that is highly prized as well. You will of course have to get used to the call to prayer happening five times a day, and do expect the place to get quiet especially on a Friday afternoon as their religion plays a major role in the lives of everybody that stays there.

Abu Dhabi Lifestyle

With regard to the lifestyle in Abu Dhabi, then you can expect some glitz and glamor and it is all because of the oil industry. The local malls are going to have more gold than you will have ever seen in your life and do not be surprised if you see every type of flashy car that you would ever care to imagine driving past you, but it is important to stress that whilst there is money there is no sense of people looking down on you if you are short of cash yourself.

Apart from showing off some wealth, the general lifestyle is quite relaxed with people enjoying eating out, throwing parties, shopping, going to the cinema, and also enjoying more traditional activities such as falconry dhow sailing, and even camel racing. The lifestyle in Abu Dhabi is certainly not stressful and nor is it surrounded by bureaucracy and everybody does appear to enjoy themselves as much as they possibly can.

So Abu Dhabi is a city that is very much like Dubai in regard to how visitors are treated, the money on show, culture, and lifestyle so as a Westerner you will certainly be made very welcome indeed. Your time there will always go off without any incidents as you experience a touch of luxury in this part of the Persian Gulf.
